CLC is celebrating Women’s History Month by highlighting two books for teaching young children about women in history! We have also included suggested reading ages on each book.

  1. “Talkin’ About Bessie,” by Nikki Grimes
A fictionalized account of the life of the first black female licensed pilot in the world.
    Reading ages, 4 – 8 years old
  2. “Turning Pages: My Life Story,” by Supreme Court Justice, Sonia Sotomayor
Justice Sotomayor shares that love of books with a new generation of readers, and inspires them to read and puzzle and dream for themselves.
    Reading age, 4 – 8 years old
To make story time with your child even more educational, try doing a craft afterward that ties into the story. For more ways to ensure an engaging storytime with your child, click here for tips from the Instructional Coordinators with Stamford Public Schools at CLC William Pitt.
