Students in one of our classes participated in a fun science experiment called The Magic Bag Trick! It’s one that you can even try at home along with your children!
You need:
– 3 sharpened pencils
– 1 zip lock bag
– 1 cup of water
Instructions:
1. Fill a plastic baggie with water and seal the top well.
2. Poke pencils (very sharp) through the bag and the water (be sure an adult does this)!
Magically, you and your children will notice that the water does not spill out! Why not? When you poke the sharpened pencils through the bag, long chains of molecules seal around the pencils within seconds and prevent leaks!
