Children’s Learning Centers of Fairfield County (CLC) is pleased to announce the appointment of Margo Amgott of Westport as Interim Chief Executive Officer. She will lead the agency during the transition to a permanent CEO, following the retirement of Marc Jaffe. A board-led search committee has engaged the firm of Philips Oppenheim to conduct the search for a permanent CEO.
Pamela Koprowski, CLC board chair said that Amgott was the ideal candidate to provide CLC with a steady hand to continue the organization’s important work. “We are delighted to appoint Margo, whose expertise in transition leadership is outstanding as demonstrated through her impressive track record of success. Her commitment to education and her extensive nonprofit transitional leadership experience were major factors in her selection.”
Amgott has more than 30 years of non-profit leadership experience serving a range of organizations including community and healthcare non-profits, educational institutions and government agencies. Her most recent assignment was interim president & CEO of the United Way of Coastal Fairfield County, a 14-month assignment which resulted in a merger with the United Way of Western Connecticut.
Amgott was selected following a thorough search led by CLC’s Search Committee. The search committee is chaired by Jaclyn Williams, a CLC Board Member and Human Resources professional. The committee consists of members of CLC’s Board of Directors and Leadership Council, a representative from Stamford Public Schools and a community member. “Margo is the right interim CEO for CLC,” said Jaclyn Williams, Board of Directors Member and Search Committee Chair. “Margo is uniquely qualified to lead and support our community first organization while we search for the next CEO. Her extensive non-profit background in fundraising, operations and management style will help strengthen CLC as we continue to evolve as an organization. We believe her strong leadership experience will help us continue to keep the focus on the kids.” Jaclyn continued.
Amgott will start at CLC on August 21. “I am honored to support CLC’s staff and board as they continue to provide high-quality care and education to Stamford children and their families during the CEO search,” Amgott said.
