Enhance your child’s social & emotional development

Children's Learning Centers of Fairfield County

Social and emotional development is a crucial part of preschool. It’s the age children begin to understand the causes of their emotions. Yale researchers, along with CLC teachers, administrators, children and families have created the first early childhood version of the breakthrough RULER program, an innovative approach to social and emotional development. It’s all about helping children manage their emotions to create a better place for learning.

Shy, Extrovert, or In-Between, All Kids Flourish at CLC.

"Cynthia was very shy when she entered CLC. It's much more than daycare, teaching a lot in pre-K that kids would not normally learn until kindergarten. She is now a social butterfly thanks to the social skills learned at CLC, is very smart and got a great foundation."

We Go The Extra Distance For All of Our Kids.

When Jessica’s mother came to CLC Social Workers seeking help, nobody could have predicted what came next. Jessica was complaining of pain in her eye, and after eye drops were prescribed, the symptoms became worse. Our Family Service Worker calmed her mother, and helped her find an appropriate specialist.

A terrifying diagnosis was made—cancer of the cornea was threatening not only Jessica’s eye, but her life, and emergency surgery was required. The insurance wouldn’t cover it, let alone a prosthetic eye. They deemed replacing her eye ‘cosmetic’, not caring what that could do to a 4-year-old’s self-esteem.

The Family Service Workers and CLC Nurses intervened until the insurer covered both procedures. The staff provided both her and her family with ongoing counselling and support upon her return. She has now graduated CLC, and we hear she is doing very well in kindergarten.

We involve the parents and allow them an active role.

Maryne Sherwood, who runs a computer business from her home, has become involved in CLC's Parent Council and suggested some playground upgrades at Palmer's Hill, her son's facility. The beautiful playground was finished before the school year began. It now has additional shade and a new soft playing surface.
